Frequently Asked Questions

Resiliency Onsite VR Experience

How do I start my Resiliency Experience using the VR headset?
  1. Ensure the VR headset is fully charged and cleaned before each use. If headset does not come on, it may be out to charge, plug in the charging cord and wait until it comes on before use. You can also reach out to the on-site Wellness Coordinator for support.
  2. Use the Cleanbox disinfection system (similar to microwave) to clean the VR headset and controllers before use.  Gently place the VR and controllers inside the Cleanbox, shut the door and ON the red button. Let it run for a minute for disinfection.  Your device is now clean and ready to use!
  3. Power on the headset using the button on the right side.
  4. Turn up the Volume as needed using the Volume button at the bottom of the VR headset.
  5. Check the hand controllers (remotes) are on, you will see a white dot on the controller face if it is on and charged. For this experience, you will use the Right Hand Controller. Press the Home button ( Meta infinity symbol) on the Right Hand Controller to confirm it is connected to the headset. If the controller does not turn on, batteries may need to be changed.  Contact your Wellness Coordinator for on-site support.
  6. Sit in a comfortable chair.  Put on the headset, you can use the straps to ensure it is comfortable around your head. You can keep your eyeglasses on if needed, adjust the straps accordingly.
    1. If burry, adjust the lenses inside the headset until the view is clear. A good fit makes a big difference in clarity, comfort, and reduces the risk of nausea. 2. To clean the lenses, you can use a dry microfiber cloth or eyeglass lens ∫. Avoid using paper towels, rough materials, or excessive moisture, as these can scratch or damage the lenses.
  7. Enter your VR experience, if prompted, enter login code: 0000.
  8. Similar to a mouse that you would click to Enter, the Right Hand Controller has a button touching your forefinger, this is what you use as your Enter or Selection button.
  9. Set the Boundary (you can use the one recommended or set your own) and ensure you are in the circle.   If you can see things in the room, you are in the pass-through mode and need to come back into the Boundary. This is a safety feature to ensure you are aware of your surroundings at all times.
  10. Welcome to your VR Experience, you will see a Content Library with guided and non-guided modules.  If you are pregnant, we recommend you use the modules specifically for your journey (tagged with Mother) and avoid any breathing or movements that may impact your abdomen and your baby.  If you do not see the Content Library, click on the Home button on Right Controller (infinity symbol) and then the Enter Button. You will see a Menu to Exit or Quit the experience and come back into the Main Home screen with Content Library.
  11. Browse the modules, to exit each module you simply click the Enter button and a Menu shows up to Exit or Quit. Enjoy your session! If you feel dizzy, nauseous or uncomfortable, pause the experience and remove the Headset right away.  Relax. After your experience, place the headset gently back on the headset Stand.
How does the virtual reality (VR) component work?

At Vital Start Health, virtual reality (VR) is a core part of our care model—and a game-changer in how emotional support is delivered.

Our VR experiences immerse you in calming, therapeutic environments that help regulate emotions in real time. You might find yourself sitting by the ocean, walking through a forest, or learning breathing techniques in a peaceful space. These environments are paired with evidence-based tools that support mindfulness, stress relief, and emotional processing.

Here’s why it matters:
Research shows that immersive VR can help reduce anxiety, ease tension, and activate the brain’s visualization and emotional connection regions, allowing the body’s natural relaxation response. Unlike traditional therapy alone, VR allows you to feel the effects of emotional regulation—making the skills you learn in sessions more tangible and easier to practice on your own.

VR is integrated into your treatment plan and can be used as often as you need—on your schedule, at no extra cost. From setup to ongoing support, our team is here to guide you every step of the way.

It’s support that meets you where you are—accessible, science-backed, and designed to help you feel better, faster.

When can I use the VR headset?

You can use your VR headset as often as you’d like. Whether it’s for a quick calming break or part of a daily wellness routine, the experience is always available on your schedule. To get the full benefit, it is best if you use both the coaching sessions and the VR tools. This consistency supports emotional progress and maximizes the impact of the immersive therapy experience.
